Method 1: Bypass Gatekeeper for a Specific App

When you need to install a specific app from safe but not approved source, you can just bypass the Gatekeeper. Following is the guide.

Step 1: Hold on the “CTRL” button and click on the app you would like to install to bring out a contextual menu. Then you need to click the “Open” option.

Step 2: There will be a popup window telling you the app cannot be opened at all. Click the “Open” button and your app will open.

This method can only help you use a specific app. If you want to use other apps that not be certified by Apple, you have to bypass Gatekeeper once again. If you want to make your Mac safe, you’d better use this method.

Method 2: Disable Gatekeeper Completely

Step 1: Go to the Apple logo on the screen and launch System Preferences.
